A timeshare vacation provides a vacation experience each year for the family. These weekly units give owners an opportunity to get away for one or more weeks a year to a nice resort. Owning a timeshare provides a guaranteed vacation spot that takes some of the guesswork out of choosing a time and place to go each year. Many persons own several timeshare units at different developments. For many owners though there comes a time when selling a timeshare is necessary or advisable.
When I needed to sell my timeshare the first person I spoke to was the onsite manager. This is the person who best knows what is available and what the going prices are for comparable units. Every timeshare resort is different and the management knows best what is happening at the resort and in the general area market also.
When the time comes to sell a timeshare the owner must realize that what he or she considered a fair price at purchase may not be as attractive to other potential buyers today. Fees have probably increased over the years and the overall condition of the resort, through use, has probably declined. That means that values will be less. Setting a price means taking into consideration all factors and being willing to accept a loss if necessary.
There are several on line sites to list a timeshare one. These sites will usually allow a free listing but may require a commission to be paid at the time of sale. Even E-bay has a specific section for listing of timeshares for sale. If selling in a down market is not an option there are persons seeking timeshare rentals for their vacations.
Once again the onsite manager will be a good resource to find potential renters. Several timeshare consortiums allow the swapping of dates and points also. Finding someone to rent or take a week or two should not be too difficult.
