Seattle motels – which to choose
While traveling through the North Western United States, I was able to stay in and review many of the Seattle motels and hotels for customer service, cleanliness, location, price and over all desirability.
What I found is that there is a huge variance in all of the above in the Seattle motels and hotels in which I visited, usually staying only one night, but on occasion, staying up to three nights consecutively.
There was also a notable difference in price as anyone could imagine. The old adage, “you get what you pay for,” usually rings true when considering Seattle motels and hotels, but not always.
My favorite Seattle motel is La Quinta Inn. I have traveled across the United States and have stayed in many La Quinta hotels with consistent results. The folks there are generally friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean and well stocked.
This hotel chain is also known for low prices and free continental breakfasts, but another interesting trait that I’ve noticed is that most of these hotels all across the US are about the same. You can rely on them being very similar to the last one you stayed in whether you are in Seattle or Kansas City or Boston. I like this.
When traveling and tired, it feels good to know what you can expect. And the they must really train their people well because I have always had very courteous, helpful front desk encounters. Some of the workers that I have come into contact with, have actually gone beyond the call of duty and looked up directions for me, called in take out orders for me, and even called to make sure if my room was satisfactory.
I’ve even had employees direct me over the phone on how to get there, offer to stay on the phone with me and I’ve even had one call me back to see if I was close!
With their low consistent low prices, it’s hard to expect much more than that!
Another chain that I have had good luck with is Motel 6. I know that it has a cheap reputation but that’s because it is cheap to stay there. This is definitely a motel and not a hotel. And the great thing about Motel 6 is that the prices again are pretty consistent across the United States.
Ramada Inn, on the other hand is a bit more spotty. I have had terrible experiences in many Ramada Inns, and wonderful, helpful experiences in others. It’s a risk for me to stay in one of these and so I usually opt for one of the other two if I am on a budget.
On the upper end of hotels, I have spend many nights in Crown Plazas again with varied results. These hotels are usually quite nice as far as their accommodations go, but the customer service is varied.
The last Crown Plaza I stayed in was doing some construction which was very disturbing. the front desk people were less than helpful and seemed as if they didn’t want to be bothered.
Holiday Inn, Quality Inn, and Courtyard by Marriott are all mid range hotels that seem reasonably consistent in quality, customer service and cleanliness.
I hope this information is helpful as you choose your Seattle motel or hotel.
